विवेकचूडामणि / vivekachudamani

अविद्याकामकर्मादिपाशबन्धं विमोचितुम् ।। कः शक्नुयाद्विनात्मानं कल्पकोटिशतैरपि ।।५५।। -- अन्वय : अविद्या-काम-कर्मादि-पाशबन्धं विमोचितुम् । कः शक्नुयात् विना आत्मानं कल्पकोटि-शतैः अपि ।। -- अर्थ : अपने अविद्या, काम तथा कर्म इत्यादि के बन्धन से मुक्त होने के लिए, अपने स्वयं को ही यत्न करना होता है। अपने स्वयं से कोई अन्य, कोटि कोटि जन्मों में भी हमें इन बन्धनों से कैसे मुक्त करा सकता है?  -- Ignorance of the Self, desire, good, bad, noble or evil deeds are the bondage. One oneself needs to make effort to free oneself from the bondage. Who other than himself could ever help and free him? ***

अज्ञानमूलोऽयमनात्मबन्धो नैसर्गिकोऽनादिरनन्त इरितः। जन्माप्ययव्याधिजरादिदुःख- प्रवाहपातं जनयत्यमुष्यः।। १४६ -- अज्ञानमूलः अयं अनात्म-बंधः नैसर्गिकः अनादिः अनन्तः ईरितः। जन्म अप्यय व्याधि जरा आदि दुःख-प्रवाह-पातं जनयति अमुष्यः।। -- यह अज्ञान ही (आत्मा के) अनात्म से बंधन का मूल कारण है। इसे नैसर्गिक, अनादि, अनन्त कहा गया है। जो जन्म, मृत्यु, रोग, बुढ़ापा, आदि दुःखों के उस प्रवाह की उत्पत्ति का कारण है, जिसमें गिरकर आत्मा दुःख से पीड़ित होती है।  -- This bondage and attachment with the non-self (अनात्म) is born of ignorance. It is said : "This ignorance is natural, without a beginning and has no end". This very ignorance is the very cause of birth,  death, disease and decrepitude (old age). This ignorance pushes one to fall into the flow of all miseries of life. --
